Salary: $3,365 – $4,745 a month
Job Description:
The City of Whittier is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker I/II to join our team. The Street Maintenance Worker I/II is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of City streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other related infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of City streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other related infrastructure.
• Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment, including but not limited to, backhoes, dump trucks, street sweepers, and other related equipment.
• Perform asphalt and concrete repairs, patching, and other related tasks.
• Perform street cleaning, litter removal, and other related tasks.
• Perform traffic control duties as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Ability to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Previous experience in street maintenance is preferred.
