Detention Services Officer
Location: Downey, CA
Salary: $59,428 – $71,855 a year
Job Summary:
The Detention Services Officer is responsible for providing security and safety to the inmates and staff of the Downey Detention Facility. The Detention Services Officer will be responsible for monitoring the activities of inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, and providing assistance to inmates and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor the activities of inmates in the facility, ensuring that all rules and regulations are followed.
• Conduct searches of inmates and their living areas to ensure that contraband is not present.
• Provide assistance to inmates and staff as needed.
• Respond to emergency situations in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain order and discipline in the facility.
• Prepare reports and other documentation as required.
• Participate in training and development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a correctional facility or related field preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established policies and procedures.
