Code Enforcement Officer I or II

The City of Santa Clarita is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer I or II to join our team. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing City codes and ordinances related to public health, safety, and welfare. The Officer will investigate complaints, inspect properties, and issue citations as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Investigate complaints and inspect properties to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances
• Issue citations and warnings as necessary
• Prepare detailed reports of investigations and inspections
• Provide education and outreach to the public on City codes and ordinances
• Respond to inquiries from the public and other agencies
• Maintain accurate records and files
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Knowledge of City codes and ordinances
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Previous experience in code enforcement or related field is preferred
